Abstract:
The construction industry faces persistent safety challenges due to human factors, such as unsafe behaviors rooted in psychological mechanisms. This study investigates the role of self-consciousness—comprising self-cognition, self-experience, and self-control—in shaping safety behaviors among construction workers. Using structural equation modeling and confirmatory factor analysis, a theoretical framework was validated linking self-control to safety values, motivation, and atmosphere, ultimately reducing unsafe behaviors. Results revealed that self-control significantly influenced safety outcomes (β = 0.777, *p*
