Abstract:
The cybersecurity workforce shortage poses a significant challenge in today's digital landscape, with demand for skilled professionals far outpacing supply. Policy-driven legislation emerges as a promising avenue for fostering impactful solutions to this pressing issue. This study explores the role of governmental support and policy interventions designed to mitigate the cybersecurity workforce gap, focusing on how legislative initiatives incentivize the development of educational programs tailored to cybersecurity training. By allocating resources to support cybersecurity education from K–12 to higher education, governments can cultivate a robust pipeline of skilled professionals equipped to tackle evolving cyber threats. This study also examines the general efficacy of legislative interventions, identifies the main challenges facing policymakers, and offers recommendations for implementing evidence-based strategies to increase equitable outcomes in the cybersecurity workforce and address worker shortages.
