Abstract:
Despite the potential of Recommender systems (RSs), there exists a noticeable gap in research that precisely investigates their trends and key themes. This study first explores the significance and impact of RSs through literature, bibliometric analysis was further conducted to examine historical development and current trends. The Bibliometrix R package was used on 1,145 articles from Scopus database from 2002 to 2022. The results show that most significant publication growth occurred between 2019-2022, most productive authors, affiliations, and countries in the domain were identified. The extent of collaboration among countries and authors was investigated with interesting insight. Graph neural networks (GNN) emerged as one of the trending topics while thematic maps identified knowledge graphs and cold start as crucial for future research. Recommender systems and electronic commerce are important keywords discovered. The study underscores the essential role of knowledge management in e-commerce for optimizing recommender systems and driving business growth.
