Abstract: In the 21st century, the green revolution has become the hallmark for sustainable development. Clearly, the green lifestyle has the potential to create a healthy living. Economic development is progressing in India, but at the same time, the increasing threats of global warming, rapid growth of population, loss of biodiversity, contamination of water, release of harmful gases are deteriorating the quality of life. To sustain our planet Earth, there is a need to manage the production processes of the manufacturers as well as the consumption pattern of the consumers. The study objective is to understand green initiatives as a step towards environment safety and sustainable development. This study will discuss the impact of green initiatives on environmental safety and sustainable development wherein secondary sources of data have been used. Data has been collected from multiple sources like books, journals, websites, and newspapers. The study will be confined to the FMCG companies in India. The study reveals that the green initiatives taken by individuals and organization can lead to environmental safety, and a drastic transformation can contribute to sustainable development. The outcome of this study can be useful for the FMCG industry in strategy formulation for green initiatives.
