Abstract: The paper examined the role of software technology adoption on project success at research institutes in Southwest Nigeria. The study employed a survey research method based on a simple structured questionnaire to gather data. Mean item ratings were used to rank the level of software technology adoption. Partial least square-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyse mean item relationships. The results show a positive and significant effect between software technology adoption and project success. Among the software technologies, Microsoft Excel ranked first, with a mean value of 4.5. If software technology is made available, researchers are more productive in their daily activities, and success rates increase.
