Abstract:
This paper analyses strategic and operational e-commerce adoption of companies in financial services and textile manufacturing sectors in Turkey at theoretical and empirical levels. Data was collected from 110 firms. Results support the propositions of tested theories (resource-based view and institutional theory) in that physical and human resources, internationalization level, and the sector explain the variance in strategic and operational e-commerce adoption. Financial services companies in Turkey were found to adopt e-commerce both at strategic and operational levels at significantly higher levels compared to the companies in textile manufacturing sector. Furthermore, the findings based on the moderated hierarchical regression analysis provide that level of internationalization of finance firms acts as a significant predictor in determining the adoption of strategic e-commerce. Findings of the study are discussed regarding the theoretical and practical implications in the conclusion.
