Situation Analysis for Energy Sector of Pakistan

Abstract: The study analyzes the energy situation in the country and highlighted the key issues causing energy crises. It is observed that there are two key factors generating the crises, first circular debt and second are transmission & distribution losses. If these two issues resolved, it would diminish the gap between electricity demand and electricity supply. It is estimated that solving these two problems adding 3885 MW electricity in the national grid and minimize the load-shedding currently 6 to 8 hour in cities and 10 to 12 hour in rural areas. Besides that, alternate resources like coal may be utilized to generate electricity so that requirement of household and industrial sectors would be fulfilled and it also makes the country self sufficient in electricity which may be export to earn foreign reserves.
