The Marked Attributes of the Adopters and Non-Adopters of Biofortified Cassava Farmers in South West Nigeria

Abstract:
Objective:The understanding of underlying characteristics of smallholder farmers can guide in the allocation of resources for technological development.This study objective was to examine the marked attributes of the adopters and non-adopters of biofortified cassava farmers In South West Nigeria.Method:Data were gathered through structured interviews conducted with 396 respondents who were chosen using a multistage sampling technique.Results:This study results show that, when compared with adopters, non-adopters were older, had smaller farm size, lesser formal education, cosmopolitan and income from agricultural sources, and engaged more family labour.Future technological interventions should therefore focus on these special attributes in order to enhance adoption and sustainability.
