Abstract:
I've been doing OR work in industry for over 25 years now. It's fun. But it can be frustrating. Frustrations come from an inability to see the reality around us. There is a gap between what we think and what management knows. Some fantasies of OR people (especially when they are just starting their careers) are listed. Other misconceptions of both OR people and the management are discussed and some recommendations of how to close the gap are given.
