Abstract:
Within the government, the level of an organization's workforce is influenced by such a variety of factors that an effective system for managing the workforce level is essential. To assist in this function, a Workforce-Level Management and Control System was implemented for the Office of Pesticide Programs of the Environmental Protection Agency. The system integrates the policies and procedures necessary for operation with an on-line Management Information System. The system has been operational for approximately one year, during which time it has become an integral part of the decision process and has significantly improved the accuracy and responsiveness of workforce-level management decisions within the Office of Pesticide Programs.
