Editorial about the Prize of 1981. The ANR Freight System is the winner of the 1981 Management Science Achievement Award for its innovative, technically advanced, and effective use of Management Science to improve customer service and profitability in the face of a recession-induced decline in truck freight traffic. The award was accepted by William C. Oswald, Vice President of Marketing.
