Stopping Rules for Family Planning in an Oriental Society

Abstract: This paper examines various stopping rules as alternatives to the “Two is Enough” decision rule promulgated by the Singapore Family Planning and Population Board in its effort to achieve zero population growth. Results indicate that the stopping rules proposed are viable alternatives which consider the effect of the percentage of fertile couples who want to have children.
