Abstract:
This paper describes the development and implementation of a plywood product mix model for Ponderosa Industrial, a medium-sized company that supplies 25% of the plywood in Mexico. A unique modeling and optimization system has been used that has resulted in more active participation of management in the modeling process. The paper focuses on the benefits of using optimization as well as the role of the optimization system.
