Abstract:
The challenge for strategic planning is to provide a proper trade-off between the short-term and long-term interests of the firm. Four alternative administrative arrangements have been used to make these trade-offs in multibusiness firms. The key distinction between the models is the level within the organization at which these trade-offs are made. Several contextual factors influence the choice of a model for the firm.
