Abstract:
A small optimization-based decision support system was designed and implemented on a microcomputer at Dairyman's Cooperative Creamery Association. The milk flow analysis program, used for daily production planning and inventory forecasting, relieves plant supervisors of about four hours a day of overwhelming hand calculations. In addition, the system has improved interaction between all levels of management.
