Abstract:
The Edelman Award for Management Science Achievement honors excellence in the practice of management science. It recognizes important implementations of management science that have significant proven benefits. The papers presented in this issue of Interfaces by the finalists of the 1985 award competition: Canadian National Railways, Eletrobrás and CEPEL of Brazil, the New York City Department of Sanitation, Pacific Gas and Electric, United Airlines, and Weyerhaeuser exemplify, in my opinion, some of the finest current work in management science practice.
