Abstract: Currently, structuring decision problems is more art than science. A useful decision analysis should characterize and discriminate between alternatives so that the decision maker can make an informed decision. Identifying the value attributes is an early and important step in such an analysis; two systematic methods are used to elicit and organize value attributes.
