Abstract:
Dalkon Shield, Bhopal, Tylenol , and asbestos today immediately connote business risk. The earliest writings on general management described risk as one of six major areas of functional responsibility in business, but the function today involves little more than insurance buying. A new view is needed---one to which management science can contribute.
