Abstract:
As the range and sophistication of formal tools for the analysis and solution of management problems grow, so does the number of conferences organized to acquaint the masses with the new technology. Indeed, the number of invitations to conferences reaching a typical management scientist probably far exceeds the days available for his attendance. Yet despite their burgeoning character, their concern with problems of management, their direction by academics and professional managers, and their organization and operation by management scientists, such conferences seldom seem to be the beneficiaries of the new scientific management techniques with which they are concerned.
