Abstract:
The primary objective of this column, as I indicated in the November issue of THE BULLETIN , is to address the problem of successful implementation of management science analysis. Two factors which have to be present in some major degree in every successful implementation of management science are: first , a management which has a good general knowledge of management science, its objectives, and its methods, and which demonstrates a high degree of interest in how the techniques are applied in specific cases; and second , application of the techniques as a team effort with members of management frequently participating in team meetings, providing judgmental inputs, and participating in discussion of difficult problem areas. I call this the “inter-participative” project team.
