Abstract: Over 10 years, we have developed a DSS that is used for R&D strategic decision making at ICI for selecting research projects, monitoring portfolios, allocating resources, and terminating projects. It is based on judgmental modeling concepts that have been incorporated into a modern computer-based information system. Our DSS provides a unified analysis and reporting format that helps communication and decision making among a team of research managers. Because of its flexibility, other parts of the organization have successfully adopted it.
