Abstract:
We developed a single-shift model at Texas Instruments' Cypress plant to schedule repairs of electronic assemblies. The model considers such shop-floor issues as technician capabilities and part preferences. While providing satisfactory results, the model has also found immediate acceptance on the shop floor, as it does not block out the human element—the supervisors.
