Abstract:
To restore their competitiveness as advanced countries increase their protection of technology, Korean firms must manage innovation better. They need to establish a coordinated system of technological innovation to achieve R & D synergy in terms of product level (raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products) and system level (R & D, engineering and production, and market). A survey of 89 R & D institutes indicates that compatibility between project and firm resources in large firms and between project and firm advertising and sales force in small or medium firms affects their success in launching new products based on R & D projects.
