Introduction: Special Section on the Role of OR/MS in Managing Natural Resources and the Environment
Mark Lembersky
Interfaces, 1996, vol. 26, issue 6, 1-2
Abstract:
Natural resource utilization has always been an appealing and productive area for the application of operations research and management sciences techniques. More recently, applications that address environmental issues have also been undertaken. Much such work was summarized at the TIMS International Conference at Anchorage, Alaska in June, 1994. This special section contains complete papers describing several recent outstanding examples in these areas.
