Abstract: There is within the TIMS membership a division of views about the nature of the organization. I think it is time that more members in the organization took a role in determining the kind of organization that we should have. In particular, I believe there should be a committee of members to do some long-range planning. Most people of the Council feel that they have an inadequate amount of time to do the job. In addition, I feel that this is the kind of job for which we should have volunteers from the membership. I am, therefore, issuing an invitation to those of you who feel qualified and are interested in spending some time on a long-range planning committee for TIMS to write to me and indicate your interest and background.
