Abstract:
At the Atlantic City TIMS-ORSA-AIIE meeting (November 8--10, 1972), the College on the Practice of Management Science sponsored its second open competition for the best paper describing a completed, real application of management science. The prize winners were Messrs. Elden D. Thomas and Donald P. Coveleski, for their paper.People in government agencies, electric utilities, industrial concerns, and even average citizens are becoming painfully aware of the problems involved in putting nuclear energy to work in the power generation industry. These difficulties have been particularly significant to Babcock & Wilcox which has been a leader in energy conversion technology through the years. As a result, the company has been working for several years to contribute to the solution of these problems.
