Abstract: This special issue on operations research in freight transportation and logistics presents a survey and numerous applications in freight transportation and logistics. The issue opens with a comprehensive survey on the state of the practice in oceanic, rail, truck, and air freight transportation. The survey is followed by applications in rail, trucking, logistics, and ocean freight.
