Abstract: This paper reports a computer model to project utilization of Automatic Fare Collection equipment for varying assumptions of fare structure, patronage, and fare card purchase behavior. The model was used to evaluate equipment design and service requirements. This study illustrates how significant savings can be predicted with the use of straightforward techniques.
