Abstract:
With the designation of the new logo shown above, a new column is instituted which will hopefully become a permanent and central part of the Interfaces journal and mission. The objective of the column is a modest one of revolutionizing the study and practice of management science. I believe we can attain this objective only through the combined efforts of both practitioners and theoreticans, not exactly a novel idea. I hope, however, to use the column as a vehicle for uniting the practitioner and the scholar in a novel endeavor aimed at exploring and refining those steps deemed necessary for successful implementation of management science efforts, and then logically combining those steps into something called management science process. In this paper I will attempt to explain the concept of this proposed endeavor, give some examples of results that can be expected from the effort and, hopefully, convince the reader to contribute ideas, suggestions and articles for the column.
