Abstract:
The problem of Operations Research/Management Science (OR/MS) implementation is discussed, with particular attention paid to the relationship between modellers and managers. A model of the possible set of relationships is developed, which allows for a variety of organisational settings, and which complements previous organisational and psychological approaches to the problem. A series of case studies of particular OR projects are presented which illustrate some of the main lines of reasoning.
