Abstract:
After much of what I loosely call thought, I offer, only somewhat facetiously, a powerful management theorem for those who wish to avoid the unpleasantness Old Nick had in mind. 1 call it the Interaction Theorem of functional organizations and use it to validate four rules for organizational stasis useful to stifle innovation from above. I use it again to show how to stifle from below by functionalizing OR/MS itself. I contend that any organization which diligently observes these practices shall never have to suffer the agonies that rapid growth in scope, influence, and revenues can bring.
