Abstract:
The research delves into the influence of pre- and post-pandemic real estate housing price indices of cities in India. Using an interrupted time series analysis and panel data regression, this study evaluates the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on residential housing in ten Indian cities over a span of thirteen years from 2010 to 2023. The results present a medley of outcomes on city-level trends, a prevailing postpandemic downturn observable across cities, and a subsequent positive shift as compared to pre-pandemic standards. The study brings to light the diverse impact and shock insulation exhibited by smaller cities, thus unveiling the variations among different cities.
