Journal of Applied Econometrics, 1997, vol. 12, issue 5, 647-50
Abstract:
Professor Tobin was invited to reflect upon the Experiment in Applied Econometrics at the workshop convened to discuss the experiment's results. He discussed his education in econometrics and the contexts both economic and technical, in which his paper of 1950 on the demand for food was written. He outlined the concerns facing econometricians of that time to explain some aspects of his approach and compared these to the worries of the econometricians taking part in the experiment.
