The Impact of Technology on Human Translators and Translation Quality: A Study on Machine Translation and Computer-Assisted Translation Tools

Abstract: This paper explores the influence of technology, especially computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, on human translators and the quality of translated texts. the development of machine translation is reviewed, including advancements in neural machine translation (NMT), and various types of CAT tools such as translation memory (TM) systems and terminology management tools. The impact of technology on human translators is analysed, highlighting their evolving role in the digital age, and the effects on translation quality is examined. The article addresses the advantages and challenges associated with technology in translation, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach that combines the strengths of technology with the expertise of human translators.
