World Journal of English Language, 2025, vol. 15, issue 5, 208

Abstract: The present study attempts to locate, through O'Malley and Chamot's taxonomy (1990), the most successful FL learners. A total of 150 school learners completed a questionnaire containing eighty different strategies within the borders of Kuwait. The results of the end-of-semester assessments were evaluated and reviewed three months after the data collection process. The most informative output inspection led to the derivation of three categories- poor, average, and top. Results show that learners employ at least a combination of metacognitive, social-affective, and cognitive strategies in ways that are varied statistically according to skill level.
