Growth and Potential of Floriculture (Marigold) in Madhya Pradesh

Abstract: This research focuses on investigating the Growth and potential of the Marigold Flower industry in the Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. The study aims to provide insights into the current status of floriculture; identify critical factors influencing its Growth; evaluate the output potential; see the challenges faced by the farmers in the floriculture business and propose strategies for floriculture growth in Madhya Pradesh. The results are based on Primary and Secondary Data that was collected through personal interviews and other authentic secondary sources. The Preliminary findings suggest a growing trend in the floriculture industry in Betul, with traditional practices prevailing. Challenges include limited awareness, market linkages, lack of export potential, access to credit, etc. Despite these challenges, marigold floriculture offers supplementary income and employment potential to the Betul district. The study recommends some interventions such as modern training, improved market connections, awareness campaigns to enhance floriculture growth, Government support, sustainability considerations, community involvement, and export promotion, etc are essential for maximizing the industry's potential. Collaboration among stakeholders can foster a robust floriculture sector, contributing to local economic development and environmental sustainability.
