Abstract:
The Khana myth was disseminated in order to give legitimacy to the catalogue of knowledge acquired through contact by the rural society, knowledge which was acquired by her experience, and which is being transmitted from generation to generation. These are of value in indigenous knowledge systems, particularly in regard to agriculture and the environment. Objective: The purpose of this research is to find the significant contribution of Khana in the sustainable development of agriculture. Methodology: The present study is based substantially on secondary sources of data collected from various academic and cultural sources. It adopts qualitative and descriptive research design with a focus on the interpretative understanding of Khanar Bachan as an indigenous knowledge system contributing to sustainable agriculture. Results and Discussions: Going through this sort of different source material it is found that the conflicts of Khona’s life itself are very prominent and evident. Folklores especially give evidence of the contraries and conflicts of her life and for the stage of a better expression of her voice before the public of all parties and sections. Khanar bachan is a collection of oral or vernacular aphorisms, memorable sayings which are quite short, peculiar and gives information on agricultural operations i.e., the time suitable for sowing, time of harvest, agricultural practices with respect to crops and soils, insect varieties and animal activities, seasons and also a good deal about the psychological and ritual nature of the implement for which they suggest sayings. Conclusion: The agrarian truths contained in Khanar Bachan must be verified and put into proper working order so that agrarian production of the present day might be wisely affected as being a certain means of vivifying agrarian industries.
