Abstract:
Today, it emerges that the mass production which is the traditional production method is inadequacy to meet customer demand change continuously. At the same time, the firms are inevitable to establish production systems systems which is flexibility to respond to the their uncertain demand. Customer needs and demands has been an important factor in determining the firms’ production and service infrastructure in recent years. They should direct to the flexible production systems which don’t waste the resources while providing this. In this context, lean manufacturing and agile manufacturing stand out. In this study, the lean and agile production which is modern production methods were compared. Besides, the advantages and disadvantages of both methods were investigated according to mass production. It was presented with a general literature on studies conducted so far.
