Abstract:
It is widely accepted that the agricultural sector has a strategic importance. The requirement to meet the food needs of the growing population, to ensure food security and to preserve natural resources are increasing the importance of the agricultural sector. This feature of the agricultural sector requires the security of agricultural supply. This necessity requires the agricultural sector to be accepted as the priority sector by the state and supported by appropriate policies. The aim of the study is to draw attention to the strategic importance of agriculture and the need to ensure the security of agricultural supply. In this purpose, manifesting the general characteristics of state intervention in the agricultural sector, the reflection of Turkey's agricultural policy changes in agricultural policies at the global level are evaluated. As observed on a global scale, agricultural production has significantly marketization in Turkey. It is observed that marketization has caused significant problems regarding food and supply security. For this reason, it is inevitable that the policy changes aimed at ensuring the security of agricultural supply will be addressed and implemented in a strategic way.
