Abstract:
This paper presents a cointegration analysis of real gross domestic product, real capital stock, and labour. Several tests come to the result that a cointegration relationships between these variables exists, even after german reunification. However, an interpretation of the cointegration relationship as a Cobb-Douglas production function with constant elasticities of production is possible only if structural breaks in the rate of Hicks neutral technical progress are taken into account.
