Minority’s Salary Discrimination: Evidence from the Professional Baseball League in Taiwan

International Journal of Sport Finance, 2012, vol. 7, issue 1, 73-93
Abstract:
This article focuses on salary discrimination in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). An unbalanced panel data of salary from CPBL teams from 1990 to 2007 was collected, and the two-stage double fixed-effects model was employed. The results supported the contention that reverse discrimination of minorities exists in the CPBL. All else being equal, minority/aborigine players tend to be paid in excess of 20% to 22% in the League.
