The views of the Eastern and Western schools on the notion of "operations scheduling"

Abstract: The aim of the article is to clarify the essence of the operational scheduling of production in the context of the changes in the theory of operations management and on this basis to outline the directions for its development. The article examines a large number of theoretical statements in the field of operations management, organization and scheduling of production and the authors are divided into "Western" and "Eastern" schools. Based on their analysis, the essence of operations scheduling is clarified and one of the conclusions is that the approach to operations scheduling of production is shifted from functional to process. The methods used are methods of analysis, synthesis and historical method.
