Abstract: Abstract This study delves into the new-type urbanization pilot policy (NTUP) and its impact on urban economic resilience (UER), showcasing how NTUP diverges from traditional urbanization by fostering a human-centric, sustainable, and inclusive development model. This study applies a multi-period DID model to analyze panel data from 281 Chinese cities spanning 2006 to 2022, examining NTUP’s direct effects on UER, its underlying mechanisms, and spatial spillover boundaries. Key findings demonstrate that: (1) NTUP significantly boosts UER. (2) The key channels through which NTUP enhances UER include urban technology innovation, economic agglomeration, the development of new industry sectors, and digital inclusive finance. (3) NTUP exerts a positive spatial spillover effect on the resilience of neighboring cities within a 250 km radius, but this effect diminishes to zero beyond that distance.
