Abstract: Abstract The study examines the relationship between deontological ethical orientations and public interest in public primary schools. A cross sectional survey design was used to collect data in two regions of central and western Uganda. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire from 270 government schools. It were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. The study findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between deontological ethical orientation and public interest. Furthermore, the dimensions of deontological ethical orientations (in terms of Ethics of duty and Ethics of rights and justice) were found to be positive and significant predictors of public interest.
