Abstract: Abstract The purpose of this study is to find the antecedents and consequences of organizational politics in Afghanistan’s public sector universities. A case study research strategy was selected, and data were collected via semi-structured interviews from ten participants in three public sector government universities in eastern Afghanistan. Replication was employed for data analysis logic to look for any similarities or deviations within and across cases. The analysis revealed that organizational politics is an inevitable part of the government sector universities of Afghanistan; however, its severity varies from case to case. The findings discovered some new factors as well as consequences in addition to confirming the previous findings that give rise to employees’ perception of organizational politics. The findings play a significant role in the higher education institutions in a country that is struggling with the aftermath of decades long war and change of regime in the recent past.
