Abstract:
The article underlines the European Union’s historical role of being a laboratory for the search of solutions regarding the supra-national government and the promotion of the social market economy. Most of the difficulties the European project had to face were of political matter. A proof is the high level of the European euro-skepticism, the reappearance of some of “the ghost of past”, such as the separatist manifestations or “the double nationalism” phenomenon of the state level and of the citizens’ level, the failure in solving the main problems that appear in the relations between the supra-national government and the national government in the context of the actual economical crisis. Starting with the “Lisbon strategy’s” experience application, the set up of some long term strategies until 2020 is required. Finally, it is underlined the possibility of the Eu- ropean Union to be a “super-power” economically speaking but also its incapability of becoming a politically and military self standing power.
