Abstract: The climate changes and their possible consequences for the winter tourist destinations represent a new and complex challenge for research in tourism. The current effects of climatic changes influence the entrepreneurial decisions and a region development itself. This paper tries to investigate the vulnerability degree of the Romanian Carpathians space (South-East Carpathians) to climatic changes. It is obvious that the Romanian Carpathians too are affected by the global climatic changes. The years 1994, 2000, 2002 and 2003 have been the warmest in the last 50 years, with real high temperature records. The climatic forecasts show even a higher increase of air temperature in the following 10 years and thereby a diminution of the snow layer at low altitudes.
