Abstract: Business English has gained importance lately, as more and more students prepare for a job in the business field nowadays. The Business English courses offered by universities are usually designed on general topics such as management, marketing, advertising, in order to provide the students with a minimum vocabulary and language skills related to the field of business. But the real question professors should ask themselves is: are we teaching language or skills? We are entitled to consider more than one answer to this question, especially due to the fact that most of the Romanian students come to the university with very little and superficial knowledge of English. That is why professors face a lot of different problems in meeting the course objectives. The article below is meant to signal some of the problems in teaching Business English at university level and offer a few solutions where possible.
