Abstract: Social policy defines the set of public policies that target the achievement of social protection and welfare studying phenomenon that transcend the government policies and action. Beyond the social services, social policy studies a wide range of social and economic phenomenon connected to the welfare at the individual, family and collectivity level. The interest areas in the study of the social policy are connected to the administrative practices in the area of medical services, social insurances, education, employment, training, community services and housing. The social problems that may affect the moral health of a nation, such as criminality but also the attitude and support to a vulnerable category – persons affected by handicap, unemployment and poor mental health, the unavoidable problems of aging are constituted as well in major preoccupation of social policy. Tolerance, education, and solving problems related to discrimination generated by race, ethnicity, gender which led to poverty and economic inequality remain in the attention of the states and governments which adhere to the principles of a welfare policy and social equity at European level.
