Abstract:
In the context of recognition of access to water as a human right by the United Nations and of the targets for improvement of access to water from a safe source, investments programmes are tailored for supporting authorities and utilities to improve the current situation. International organizations and researchers made a series of assessments of the progress made in this area. The current study uses the Romanian National Statistical Institute data for making a forecast of the share of inhabitants that will have access to water supply services in Romania in 2015 and in 2020. The conclusion of the study is that the pace of infrastructure’s development has to increase for meeting the set goals.
